Bill and Carrie started the year with a trip to Yap (home of the stone coin). After a week of diving, they returned to Truk Lagoon to join some friends on a liveaboard for a week of diving WWII Japanese shipwrecks (Truk was the Japanese version of Pearl Harbor). Some friendly locals came by to check out the divers, and they even had time to settle in for a sake and book. For more pictures of Yap, click here - for more pictures from Truk, click here. Immediately after getting back to the states, Carrie and Bill found themselves on a plane to Key West, attending Carrie's cousins wedding (what a great place to get married!). They spent a few extra days playing...for more pictures, you can click here. June was an absolutely insane month. It started with a surprise birthday event for Bill (what better way to throw a surprise party by having it 2 1/2 months before the actual birthday?). Carrie arranged for Bill's mom and sisters to spend a week on the West Coast - the first time the family had everyone together in decades! Nate joined for a weekend, as the group toured San Francisco (including Chinatown), went to Muir Woods for the afternoon, cruised across San Francisco Bay, followed by a great dinner and a showing of Wicked (the musical). Truly a great week! Also in June, Shaylee turned one, and Amy and Ryan both added another year to their lives. To help Ryan celebrate, Bill and Carrie flew down to San Diego. Sea World beckoned, so the three spent the day there. Bill also rejoined the high-tech world in June, becoming part of the Solutions Marketing team at Blue Coat Systems. July brought about Bill and Carrie's ten year anniversary (proving that Carrie can truly put up with anything). August brought Thomas the Tank engine to Northern California - Austin was truly in heaven. August also brought the Concours d'Elegance to Pebble Beach - Carrie and Bill went to see some of the most amazing cars on the planet, both the old (this 1929 Duesenberg J. Murphy Convertible Coupe) and the new (a 2010 Iconic). The day before the Concours, Bill spent the afternoon with a professional race car driver coaching him as he took the mountains of Carmel Valley by storm with a Ferrari 599 HGTE. WOW. No laws were broken, of course (cough). More pictures of Concours can be found by clicking here. October brought the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin Festival, an event that Nathan flew in for. In late October, Bill and Carrie flew out to Maui to spend Carrie's birthday in paradise. They decided to take a flight in a doorless helicopter over to Molakai - what a great time, with great views! They also visited Kuka'emoku, as well as watched the new sport of air surfing. More pictures of this trip can be found by clicking here. Heading back to the mainland, Carrie and Bill left two days later for Portugal for work. They spent the first weekend in Sintra, high above Lisbon. Sintra is home to the National Palace and several castles dating back to 500AD. The rest of the trip was spent in and around Lisbon, learning all about it's fascinating history. More pictures can be found by clicking here. December brings the holidays, and this year Bill and Carrie are flying to CO to be with her family for a (cold) holiday season with her Dad, brothers, sister, and their families - and pass on wishes for a safe holiday season for all friends and family. |
